In general, the techniques presented throughout the Clarity Program are to be practiced regardless of your vision challenge. No matter what deficiency you are solving for, your eyes need RELAXATION, they need to have their PERIPHERAL VISION active with a vision field as wide as possible, and they need to see MOVEMENT at all times. Without it no clear vision is possible.
To progress in a steady pace, it is also essential to have your VISUAL MEMORY and IMAGINATION able to create images (in your mind) at will, so that your brain can willingly change the interpretation of visual signals transmitted by the eyes. As you have experienced in several of the techniques, remembering what you saw, then changing its parameters via imagination is essential in enabling better vision to occur, vision that is more clear, vision at a longer or shorter distance, etc. While training memory and imagination is not part of this program, Overbound periodically offers a specialized workshop to address the lack of this ability for those who need it.
In addition to the above, the most common symptoms of limited vision (MYOPIA, HYPEROPIA, PRESBYOPIA) are addressed through the techniques presented in Module 3, and the “add on” errors of refraction (binocular vision, astigmatism) are trained in Modular 4.
The section below provides directions for how to address the less common vision deficiencies. Some of them may be too complex for this program, but practicing what you have learned already will certainly help in moving you forward.
THE BEST TECHNIQUES FOR …
-
If one of your eyes is suppressed, then it is quite important that you spend much time activating the eye and bringing it from the sideline back to the game.
SINGLE-EYE PRACTICE with shields L and R is key for your success no matter what technique you engage with.
Leverage MEMORY and IMAGINATION to project the vision in your active eye to your lazy eye.
Maximize your practice of the BALL AT TARGET, JUGGLER, and STRING CROSS techniques.
And finally, love the eye that needs more help, mentally encourage it to come forward, give it space to participate in the seeing process.
-
Strabismus is one of the more complex errors of refraction.
You can encourage the eyes to look where you want them to look through the STRING CROSS technique, SINGLE EYE PRACTICE, and lots of RELAXATION before and after practice sessions.
Think of releasing the tension in the muscle that pulls the eye out of alignment. Imagine that muscle getting looser, and lengthening, and the eye turning to the proper position with ease.
Additional techniques that teach eye alignment, as well as eye-related mind work may be needed.
-
The most successful technique that helps with double vision is IMAGINATION. Look at an object, imagine it as one (merge the two images you saw into one), then project the imagined picture into reality. Your brain must know that there is only one image, see one image (in the mind), before you can see it in real life.
There are many depths of knowledge. Create the deepest possible experience of the “one image” that you can. Demonstrate to your brain that only one image exists. If it helps, touch or trace the object to show your brain that there is only one.
Remember, doubling is only in your brain, it does not exist in the real world, therefore working on the way your brain will interpret a signal is of key importance.
Practice the SWING (head or optical). Specifically swing the doubled object in the direction that is at a 90 degree angle to the direction at which the doubling happens. For example, if the object doubles horizontally, practice swinging the object vertically.
Practice eye-coordination techniques, such as THE JUGGLER and STRING CROSS.

While Overbound programs cannot guarantee the reversal of cataracts, the Bates method strongly suggests that long periods of SUNNING and PALMING are introduced to the student’s daily routine. The general recommendation is to enjoy sunning for 1/3 of the dedicated time, then palming for twice as long (2/3). So, if you decide to practice sunning for 5 minutes, you should follow with palming for 10 minutes, ideally without opening your eyes in between.
For the practice of sunning lenses L and R of the Overbound Eyesight Trainer can be worn to provide an opportunity for a single eye engagement.
-
Same as with cataracts, Overbound programs cannot guarantee the reversal of glaucoma. However, improvement has been witnessed by the practitioners of natural eyesight development through long practice of RELAXATION, and frequent extended practice of the techniques that develop PERIPHERAL VISION (Module 2).
