The Thin Strip technique (also known as the Melissinia), which is the focus of this month’s lesson, is unique in a way that it promotes engagement of selected portions of CENTRAL vision. It leverages a very narrow mono occluder and enables activation of the parts of one’s central vision that are affected by low vision (i.e. black/blind spots, or fogginess).

Once the correct occlusion is prepared for the eye, the technique is practiced in a manner similar to the Butterfly technique (aka the Melissa exercise). So, the Butterfly technique, in its short version, is also practiced as part of this lesson.

Enjoy!
